Your CV photo is the first thing an employer sees, often before reading a single line. So we treat it as a short studio shoot, not a document photo: we take several shots with slightly different head positions and expressions, and choose one together on the screen.
How a headshot session works
- Shooting. A head-and-shoulders portrait on a calm, single-colour background in our studio at Ruzveltova 8.
- Choosing. We look at the shots together and retake until you pick one you like.
- Light retouching. A CV has no strict rules, so we can remove the odd spot, wrinkle or dark circles.
- Prints and file. The photos are ready in 2–3 minutes, and you also get the digital file.
What a good CV photo looks like
- Framing: head and shoulders, facing the camera or slightly turned. Don't crop yourself out of a holiday or party photo.
- Expression: natural, a gentle smile. Unlike a passport or visa photo, a smile is welcome here.
- Background: calm and single-coloured, so nothing distracts from your face.
- Glasses: fine if you usually wear them. We make sure the lenses don't reflect.
What to wear
Dress as you would for the interview. Plain colours look calmer than small patterns and stripes, and a jacket or a collared shirt suits most office jobs. For creative jobs, neat and simple clothes are enough. If you're not sure, bring two shirts or tops in different colours and try both in front of the camera.
Printed photo or file
For a paper CV we print the photo at 3.5 × 4.5 cm, the same size as a document photo, or in any size you need. Most CVs now go by email or through job sites, so with the prints you get a digital file for a CV in Word or PDF, and a square crop for your LinkedIn profile picture.
For a longer portrait session for yourself or as a gift, see our photo studio. Applying abroad? You may also need a visa photo.
Frequently asked questions
What should a CV photo look like?
A head-and-shoulders portrait, facing the camera, on a calm single-colour background, in the clothes you would wear to the interview. A natural smile is welcome: a CV photo has no strict rules like a passport photo.
What size is a CV photo?
For a printed CV, usually 3.5 × 4.5 cm, the same as a document photo. For a CV you send by email or upload to a job site, you need a file, which you get with the prints.
Can I wear glasses?
Yes. There is no rule against glasses for a CV; we just make sure the lenses don't reflect. If you also want to use the photo for a visa or a document, remember that some of them don't allow glasses.
Do I get the photo as a file?
Yes. With the printed photos you get a digital file for a CV in Word or PDF, online applications and your LinkedIn profile picture.
How long does a CV headshot take?
We take several shots until you pick one you like. After that the photos are ready in 2–3 minutes.
