Crop image square: Questions
Can I crop many photos to a square at once?
Yes. Add all the photos: each one gets the biggest square in its middle. Open any photo in the strip to move its square, then save them all as a ZIP. If you need a fixed size, set Exact size, for example 1080 × 1080 px.
How do I crop a photo to an exact size?
Pick a ratio or a social media size, move the box where you want it, and under Output size choose Exact size and type the width and height in pixels. The crop is resized with a sharp filter to exactly those pixels. To cut an exact number of pixels from the photo without resizing, type them under Crop size.
Does cropping or rotating lose quality?
For JPG photos, not when it can be avoided: turns, flips and crops are done on the compressed data, like jpegtran, so nothing is compressed again. For that, the top-left corner of a crop may move by up to 8 pixels to the JPEG block grid. Straightening, exact pixel sizes and circles need new pixels, so those are saved again at high quality (92 by default).
Can I crop many photos the same way?
Yes. Add many files or a whole folder: every photo gets the same ratio, size, rotation and format, with the crop in the middle. Open any photo in the strip to move its crop, then save them all as a ZIP.
How do I straighten a crooked horizon?
Drag the Straighten slider under the photo, up to 45° either way, in steps of a tenth of a degree. A fine grid helps you line up the horizon, and the crop shrinks so no empty corners are left.
Which shape do I need for a print?
Prints have fixed shapes: 10×15 cm and 4×6 in are 2:3, 15×20 cm and 30×40 cm are 3:4, 40×50 cm and 8×10 in are 4:5, 13×18 cm, 5×7 in and 50×70 cm are about 5:7, and A4 and A3 are 1:1.41. Pick the print size and the box takes that shape, so you decide what is cut off instead of the printer. The photo keeps all its pixels.
Are the date, camera and location kept?
By default the EXIF data (date, camera, settings) is kept and the picture is turned the right way up. You can remove just the location, or all metadata, in the settings.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. FotoJock runs entirely in your browser: the files are read, converted and saved on your own phone or computer. Nothing is sent to a server, and it keeps working offline once the page is open.
Is it really free?
Yes, with no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of files. FotoJock is made by Foto Jocković, a photo shop in Belgrade.
