Audio cutter, free and private

Drag the handles on the waveform to keep the part you want, listen to it, add a fade in or fade out and save. MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC and OGG keep their format, and M4A or OGG without fades are cut without re-encoding.

How it works

How to cut an audio file

  1. Choose audio files, a folder, or drop them on the page. Video files work too.
  2. Pick the format and quality. To cut, drag the handles on the waveform; add a fade in or out if you like.
  3. Listen to the result, then save each file or all of them as a ZIP.

Convert M4A, WAV, FLAC and OGG to MP3, and MP3 to WAV

Turn iPhone voice memos (M4A) into MP3, shrink big WAV recordings, play FLAC on any device, or make a WAV from an MP3 for editing. Many files at once, saved one by one or as a ZIP.

Audio cutter and MP3 trimmer with fade in and fade out

Keep only the part you need, from a ringtone length clip to a full interview, with a smooth fade at the start and end. M4A and OGG without fades are cut without re-encoding.

How do I cut a song or recording?

Open the file, drag the two handles on the waveform (or type the start and end time), press Play to hear the selection and save. With several files, “Use this cut for all files” applies the same start and end everywhere.

Will converting lose quality?

WAV and FLAC are lossless. MP3, M4A and OGG are compressed: 192 kbit/s sounds like the original for almost all music, 128 kbit/s is fine for voice. Converting a compressed file to another compressed format cannot add back detail, so pick a bitrate at least as high as the original. “Same as the file” copies the audio without re-encoding when the format stays the same; a cut MP3 is encoded again at its own bitrate.

Can I add a fade in or fade out?

Yes. Choose 1 to 10 seconds for the fade in and the fade out; the waveform shows them right away. A fade means the audio has to be encoded again, so it is not available together with a lossless copy.

Which audio formats can I convert?

It reads MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG and Opus, and the sound track of MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM videos. It writes MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, OGG (Opus) and, in browsers that can encode it, FLAC.

Does it work with long recordings and on a phone?

Yes. Files are read in pieces and the waveform is built while decoding, so hour-long recordings and big WAV files work on a phone too. Long WAV outputs are written straight to the browser's private storage instead of memory.

Can I convert many videos at once?

Yes. Drop a whole folder or choose as many files as you like. They are converted one or two at a time, with a progress bar and time left for each, and you can pause, stop, retry, and save everything as a ZIP or straight into a folder.

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your videos are read, converted and saved by your own browser, using your device’s video hardware where it has it. Nothing is sent to a server, so even private or very large videos stay on your phone or computer.

Is it really free?

Yes, with no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of files. FotoJock is made by Foto Jocković, a photo shop in Belgrade.
