Questions

Why are your GIFs smaller and smoother?

FotoJock picks one palette for the whole clip from frames across it, so colours do not flicker from frame to frame, and it leaves out pixels that did not visibly change, so a still background costs almost nothing. The GIF encoder is our own; no GPL code is involved.

How do I make a GIF smaller?

Lower the width (480 px is plenty for chats), the frame rate (10 to 12 fps looks smooth), and the quality, which lets more of each frame be reused. A shorter clip helps most. Animated WebP or MP4 is often ten times smaller than GIF.

Can I convert many videos at once?

Yes. Drop a whole folder or choose as many files as you like. They are converted one or two at a time, with a progress bar and time left for each, and you can pause, stop, retry, and save everything as a ZIP or straight into a folder.

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your videos are read, converted and saved by your own browser, using your device’s video hardware where it has it. Nothing is sent to a server, so even private or very large videos stay on your phone or computer.

Which browsers work?

Recent Chrome, Edge, Safari (16.4 or newer, also on iPhone and iPad), Firefox (130 or newer) and Android browsers, all of which encode video with WebCodecs, usually in hardware. Which codecs are available depends on the browser and the device.

Is it really free?

Yes, with no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of files. FotoJock is made by Foto Jocković, a photo shop in Belgrade.
